The 2016 Australian National Surf Life Saving Championships concluded last Sunday, just in time for thousands of people to attend the Anzac Day dawn services and ceremonies across the coast the following morning. It was such an honour for the Coast to host this event and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive…let’s hope we don’t have to wait another 36 years to host the next one!
Queenslanders will be enjoying another long weekend this weekend with the Labour Day Public Holiday on Monday, May 2nd. The history of Labour Day in Australia spans over 150 years. It is an important annual event that commemorates the granting of the eight-hour working day for Australians and remembers those who struggled and later succeeded to ensure decent and fair working conditions in Australia.
