This is going to be an action-packed weekend on the Sunshine Coast, particularly in Mooloolaba with the Mooloolaba Triathlon on March 15. The Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival has been a feature event on the Australian Triathlon Calendar for over 22 years.
Events include: the Mooloolaba Triathlon and Mooloolaba Teams Triathlon which consists of a 1500m ocean swim, 40km cycle and 10km run; ASICS Mooloolaba Twilight Run – 5km; Mooloolaba Ocean Swim – 1000m, Mooloolaba Superkidz Triathlon for children aged 7-13 and the Mooloolaba Special Triathlon for competitors with special needs.
This year there is also an exciting new event, the Subaru Mooloolaba Criterium – Catch the cycling stars in action in this hot new event on the festival line-up. A field of Australian elite cyclists will be heading for Mooloolaba to compete on the circuit, along the Esplanade, in front of a thrilled crowd. Watch these cyclists carve up the iconic Esplanade in the 45 minute + 3 lap high intensity criterium race.
The Mooloolaba Triathlon brings thousands of visitors to the Coast and is a healthy stimulus to the local economy, particularly for retailers and those in the hospitality trade.
But, it’s not just the excitement of the triathlon this weekend, Jared Young and Gareth Lee-Ferrari are also holding a red hot Auction on Saturday – 4 Fern Court Buderim.
