Be prepared for storm season

Queenslanders are getting prepared for storm season and there are a lot of hot tips for home owners to get your property storm season ready.

General home maintenance is the first job to keep on top of. Keeping your roof in good condition, gutters and downpipes clear, trimming overhanging trees and checking for any corrosion, rotten timber, termite infestations and loose fittings is key to keeping your property ready.

Other general home preparations you should keep in mind are ensuring your home and contents, and car insurance is current and adequate.

If you live in a flood prone area make sure you store all poisons and garden chemicals well above ground level. Identify your indoor items you will need to raise or empty if flood threatens – preparing your own sandbags is a great way to stay storm ready.
