Sunshine Coast’s Portfolio of Events Continue..

Last Sunday the Sunshine Coast hosted the first Ironman 70.3 World Championship held in the southern hemisphere, and what a huge success!  In excess of 3000 competitors from over 80 countries partook in the event with lots of cheering and support from the 25,000 strong crowd of spectators.  It showcased our region to the world, and is estimated to have brought in $15 million to the local economy…great stuff!

The Winter Season Arrives..

Well the mercury has certainly dropped as we officially approach winter, it was only 4.6 degrees celsius in Maroochydore on Monday morning (May 30) at 6:30am; the lowest minimum May temperature since 2012!  Despite the cooler temperatures, residents flocked to two Sunshine Coast events on the weekend, the Big Pineapple Music Festival which seems to get more popular each year and the annual Maleny Agricultural Show.  The mornings are cold, … Read the full post »

The Race Is On This Weekend!

The Sunshine Coast is once again in the national and international spotlight, as we host the Va’a World Sprints, which commenced last Thursday and finishes on Sunday May 15.  With 35 invited countries, around 4,000 competitors and thousands of spectators, this event brings the world paddling community and the excitement of the world’s fastest outrigger canoe sprint racing to Kawana.
