How To Stage Your Home For A Sale

Ask – what will they see first?

The main an example, once people walk in, open the door, they’ll stop to look at the surroundings—you want them to see something pleasing.

Take a walk around your home – where are the places buyers are likely to stop? If those places aren’t pleasing to the eye, the best move is to change or move it. Why? Because this can affect how buyers will view the rest of the house.

Make sure there is light!

A bright home draws potential buyers in, so keep everything light and bright, especially during open houses! Open the windows and blinds, weather permitting. Invest in bright light bulbs and lamps.

Consistency

Aim to have an overall feeling of oneness and balance in your home. Look around and see what makes your home consistent… make sure it is carried through all rooms and nooks. If you need to add something try cushions, throws, frames or art. If something doesn’t blend with your theme move it, or put it away for your open home.

Use diversion!

If there’s something not quite right, or that can’t quickly/easily be fixed in time for your open home– direct attention elsewhere. Attempting to hide or cover things up can often draw more attention to them. By placing something of interest in the room, you can draw attention away.

Rearrange Furniture

Moving furniture around can help make a small room look bigger. Furniture is crucial to giving a larger feel to a room.
Tip: people normally look at a room from left to right, so place the tallest piece of the furniture in the left corner of a room for it to appear larger.

Make the Bed!

This doesn’t mean go all fancy and over the top. But spend 5 extra minutes making it nicer than you would other days. Fluff the pillows, adjust the throw at the end of the bed, try to make the colour of the bedding to the colours in the room. It’s the Little things that can make a difference!
