Walk for Balin: Uniting Against Knife Crime

On Saturday 20th January, the AW team will come together for the Walk for Balin, a poignant event symbolising unity and support for the Stewart family. The tragic loss of Balin Stewart has prompted his parents, Michael and Kerri-Lyn, to initiate the #BinTheBladeForBalin campaign, an impactful movement aimed at preventing the devastating consequences of knife crime.

Please join us in showing your support this Saturday for Balin and his family, including Kerri-Lyn, who is one of our valued team members here at Amber Werchon. On January 20, 2022, just before midnight, Balin Stewart’s life was abruptly ended by a single, fatal stab wound outside his home in Buddina. His passing, a split-second, life-changing event, has left an indelible mark on our community.

In the face of unimaginable sorrow, Balin’s parents, Michael and Kerri-Lyn, have displayed extraordinary strength. Motivated by their desire to effect change, they have channelled their pain into a mission to prevent similar tragedies.

The primary objective of #BinTheBladeForBalin is to encourage everyone carrying a knife to dispose of it immediately. By removing these weapons from potential altercations, the campaign seeks to make an immediate and tangible impact on reducing knife crime.

Through education and a commitment to change, #BinTheBladeForBalin seeks to make a lasting difference. The campaign believes that by raising awareness and fostering a shift in mindset, Balin’s legacy will live on through prevention.
