What is walkability?

A term that’s being used more and more is ‘walkabilty’, but what exactly does it mean?

Put simply, walkability is a measurement of how walk-friendly the area I, and not that doesn’t meant how scenic it is! Factors  that ca influence walkability include the presence or absence and quality of footpaths, sidewalks or other pedestrian rights-of-way, traffic and road conditions, land use patterns, building accessibility, and safety, among others.

Walkability is an important concept in sustainable urban design.

Living in a walkable neighbourhood could save you plenty of money, particularly when it comes to dropping your car costs. There are good reasons to live in a walkable city: It’s not just your environmental footprint, but it does wonders for your health and the wider economy.
