Brighten Your Day By Adding Pops Colour!

With the rain lingering around the coast, what better time to look at ways to brighten your home. Although the current design trends are neutral and minimalistic, it doesn’t mean that you can’t experiment with vibrant colours.  When adding in small pops of colour, you can be bolder with your choice.  Think rugs, accessories, cushions and plants.  All of these pieces can insert a bold statement of colour and lift the mood of a space, even if the weather is gloomy outside. However, be cautious with so many options available to us, if you are not careful you can end up with colour overload.  To strike the right balance, follow these simple rules.

  1. A patterned rug can be a stunning feature within a room. If you choose to do this, the rug, as a central feature, should inform the overall colour palette of the room.
  2. Choose bright accessories to energise neutral spaces, e.g, vases, ornaments & cushions. Choose one or two colours and spread them subtly around the space.
  3. Be creative with artwork. This is a fantastic way to brighten up the walls of your home, without the expense or commitment of painting.
  4. Bring the outside in! Plants and flower arrangements can bring energy into the home, and add subtle colour as well as a beautiful perfume. They are also portable, which gives you the flexibility to test them out in different areas of the home.
  5. Don’t forget your window dressings. They can be statement pieces in living rooms as well as bedrooms, where space for other feature items may not be available.

As you know, colour trends change quickly.  This is why adding pops of colour to your home is an easy and efficient way of experimenting with different colours without having to commit long-term.  Be considered with how many additions you make,   however, be confident and bold with the additions you choose.  With this approach, you will be rewarded with new stylish features in your home that will brighten up even the most rain-soaked days.  Have Fun!
