Less than 12 months ago experts were predicting the Sunshine Coast to be the next property hotspot, and with the rise of demand from local and interstate buyers, this has now happened! A recent report from Real Estate Institute Queensland (REIQ) has revealed that the Sunshine Coast is now the number one performing region in the state! Meaning that for the first time in history we have overtaken the Gold Coast in property market growth.
The region has had a 6.4 per cent growth in the last 12 months, and the Gold Coast only 4.5 per cent. Experts believe that the rise in popularity was heavily impacted by tourism, and the migration that is generated by this.
The rise in popularity comes as no surprise with the region being one of the state’s biggest winners in the 2018. With a game changing infrastructure boom including the new hospital precinct, airport expansions (to be international by 2020), upgraded rail projects and the International Broadband network project.
The REIQ report also identified the best performing suburb on the Coast as Maroochydore, with Nambour, Yandina, Burnside, Landsborough and Coes Creek being the most affordable for the third quarter running.
