It’s hard to believe Summer is over and Autumn is already here! Luckily Sunshine Coasters get to bask in the warmer weather all year round, making this a perfect place to live – and holiday.
So it’s no surprise that so many tourists flock here; the latest International Visitor Survey shows more international tourists have enjoyed holidaying on the Sunshine Coast in the past 12 months than ever before, and we don’t blame them! The Sunshine Coast Daily reported a record 301,000 people visited the Sunshine Coast last year, which is up 3.4 per cent on the previous year. Tourism Research Australia revealed total international nights in the region during the past year increased to 3.1 million, up 7.2 per cent, with an average stay of 10.2 nights.
Visit Sunshine Coast CEO Simon Latchford said visitors have come from far and wide “from the traditional areas of Europe including the UK, the Sunshine Coast attracted 162,000 visitors with an increase of 6.8 per cent through to work in newer markets such as Asia recording 25,000 arrivals, up four per cent.”
Our region is positioning itself as a destination of choice for high performance sports training too, with sporting teams such as the Brisbane Broncos, North Queensland Cowboys and Richmond Tigers training here on the Coast. The region looks to also welcome nine countries and more than 500 visiting athletes and officials in the lead-up to the Commonwealth Games.
If you’re planning a sea change, tree change or just want to upgrade your scenery, then we have a number of properties open for inspection this Saturday. You can view the complete list here.
