Styled To Perfection

It’s known that staging your home for sale is proven to increase its property value, in fact, on average you can expect to see a 7.5 to 12.5% increase on your final sale price.

Be sure though, if you are tackling styling yourself, you do need to be aware of the common styling mistakes commonly made.

  1. Your entryway isn’t entry-slay

Make walking in the door a joy for you, guests and a potential buyer when you do sell. Therefore you need to be making a statement. The biggest issue when selling (and in general, actually), is failing to make your entryway as welcoming as it could be.

Get a striking entry table or shelf with drawers that can hold your mail, keys, and coins, and then style it up with a stunning mirror, a candle, a luscious plant – dumping your keys in a bowl on the entryway table is a thing of the past!

  1. Don’t judge a room by its size

Think of this rule like jeans, don’t grab a smaller size hoping you can squeeze into them. So when you fill a small space full of bulky furniture, it’s going to feel like the walls are closing in.

Here’s the truth: You can change the size of furniture more easily than you can the size of the room, so be wise and keep scale in mind when selecting sofas and coffee tables.

  1. Window treatments need some TLC

Vertical blinds – they are either friend or foe. If you have them in your home, at least ensure the chain is connected along the bottom.

If a roller blind in bent out of shape, or discoloured, it might be time to replace it. Invest in some decent window treatments, it can make a world of difference to a buyer, and the overall ambiance of the space.

Opt for a clean and contemporary looks and your room will feel dreamy instead of dreary.

  1. Peeling walls

A dated and dirty paint job can seriously harm a sale. Whereas giving your walls a fresh coat of paint can truthfully add thousands to your sale price.

Put on your overalls, your motivational playlist and get into the DIY spirit one weekend, or at the very least call in a professional to take the walls from patchy to perfect.

It doesn’t cost as much as you think but it will give your home the new-property feels buyers desire (and secretly expect).
